Idea

It is a small residential building located in the eastern part of Sołacz, next to Wodziczki park.
The plot is not connected to the rainwater drainage system, so we decided to design a building that will retain as much rainwater as possible. All flats have access to balconies with 60 cm deep flower pots and irrigation system. They will be planted with nearly 6000 thousand carefully selected grasses, shrubs and miniature trees. All pots are insulated and additionally watered, and they are separated from the terraces by an openwork balustrade. Gardeners will appear 2-3 times a year to take care of the green parts of the building. This maintenance will be done with a car with a basket lift. This solution is cheap and possible because the building is low, with 6 floors.

Facade / Flats

The building itself has 15 flats, ranging in size from around 50 to 120 m2. In the façade you can see many architects and many current trends. But the greatest influence on its aesthetics came from the building we can see outside our window, the Collegium Altum designed by the Sternal, Milewski, Skupniewicz team. As in that building, the inter-storey strips, which also wrap around the balconies, have been designed from trapezoidal sheet metal, while the walls will be clad with expanded metal.

Ecology

There will also be nesting boxes for birds in the façade of the building. We have designed them in the casing of devices standing on the roof. They will be designed for small birds (size of inlet 22 -25 mm), so if there are birds nesting there, they will be sparrows, tits etc. These birds are very careful about keeping their nests and surroundings clean. The boxes will be wooden, and can be serviced by climbing onto the roof. It will work in a similar way to the Pregnancy Lamp.
