In original this is a project of a semi-detached house in Poznań. Till now the first part of it was built, the second one will be erected in the future.
The main factor while designing this house was the height of the ground floor level. Because of the limited width of the plot, we had to put the technical rooms and garage in the basement level. The building line is placed 7 meters from the street, so the garage entrance cannot be further than 7m from the plot border. Simultaneously, according to the Polish construction law the driveway to the garage cannot be steeper than 25% to remain safety and comfortable. That all forced us to lift up the ground floor of the house to the height of 1,3 m over the garden level. This way we solved a problem of declivity of a driveway to the garage. However we came to conclusion that it would be very uncomfortable to go seven stairs down every time one wants to go onto the lawn from the living room. So we pushed one edge of the garden upwards – to the level of the living room’s floor. This way we created a green slope and made the garden three-dimensional. The slope will be formed using the ground from the basement trench. Facades are design in a way to allow a free forming of the houses’ interiors. The windows’ layout of the south facade differs from the one of the north facade.
