The idea of this building is based on the history of Kalisz, a city where for centuries people traded amber. Kalisz is located on the ancient Amber Road. Designing the building we wanted to act like a jeweler who shapes a gemstone. We chose a technique used not only in jewelry but also in building, known as faceting. This is a process of removing parts of a polygon without creating any new vertices. We applied faceting to every important part of the building, such as main entances or pedestrian bridges, which resulted in an unique character of the object . Searching for the colours, once again we got inspired by the gemstone. „Amber” is the name of the RGB 255, 191, 0 colour. It is a yellow-orange, warm shade. We combined it with the dark-grey colour of the wall claddings.
